Erosion and sediment control helps manage soil movement, protect inlets and surrounding properties, and maintain required site controls during construction. JPB installs and maintains erosion and sediment controls for contractors, developers, and commercial projects from active earthwork through site stabilization.
What E&S covers
Silt sock and perimeter controls. Sediment protection around disturbed areas, inlets, slopes, and downgradient edges. Maintenance of installed controls while construction and earthmoving are underway.
JPB works from the project requirements and applicable E&S plan to install the controls required for the site.
When disturbed areas are ready for stabilization, JPB can also provide hydroseeding, mulch blowing, and related site stabilization. For projects involving water-management issues, see our drainage services.
Who the work is for
JPB works with general contractors, developers, builders, and commercial property owners with active construction or disturbed sites.
Provide the contractor contact, work-site address, and project requirements through our contractor/developer form. If the project also requires fencing, hydroseeding, drainage, or landscape installation, include those needs in the same request so we can evaluate the work together.
JPB serves York, Enola, Hershey, Harrisburg, Colonial Park, Mechanicsburg, Dillsburg, Marysville, New Cumberland, and surrounding Central Pennsylvania communities. Larger erosion-control and closeout projects can go beyond the weekly grounds-and-snow radius when the scope justifies the trip.
How an E&S job runs
We start by reviewing site access, project requirements, applicable plan notes, and the construction sequence. Controls are installed according to the project requirements and conditions on the site.
As construction progresses, JPB can maintain installed controls and coordinate the next phase of stabilization. Once grading is ready, hydroseeding, mulch blowing, and other stabilization work can follow as required by the project.
The goal is straightforward: control erosion, stabilize disturbed areas, and leave the site ready for its next phase.
Questions we hear on site visits
- Is this the same as hydroseeding?
- No. Erosion and sediment control focuses on measures such as silt sock, perimeter controls, and sediment protection during construction. Hydroseeding and mulch blowing are used to stabilize disturbed soil once the site is ready. Many projects require both.
- Who typically calls JPB for E&S work?

- Can you pair erosion controls with site stabilization?
- Yes. Perimeter and sediment controls are often installed while earthwork is underway. When grading is ready, JPB can follow with hydroseeding, mulch blowing, and other stabilization work. We can evaluate both phases during the same site visit and coordinate the work as the project progresses.
- What do you need before you walk the site?
- Send us the jobsite address, GC or developer contact, applicable project or E&S requirements, and the target schedule. If you have relevant plans or inspection requirements, include those as well so we understand the scope before visiting the site.
